Fiat letter to the prefect of Turin

In questi giorni l’argomento Fiat é oggetto di commenti e valutazioni di ogni tipo e provenienza. Non entro nel merito ma voglio solo ricordare agli immemori l’atteggiamento tenuto in varie circostanze by the government led by Benito Mussolini always in regard to events connected with the company in Turin.
instructions sent to the prefect of Turin, July 5, 1927:
" Mr Prefect of Turin,
to avoid the serious danger that the absurd and Fiat end up considered a sacred and inviolable institution of the state, like Dynasty, the Church, scrap the scheme and continuing claims, we must consider the Fiat undertaken as a private-like thousands of others, the fate of which the state can ignore. Fiat has many workers is good, but this does not give a title to special privileges. The number of workers liable to dismissal, may be an element of consideration benevolent if Fiat is in line with the scheme, otherwise the planned layoffs have the air of a blackmail that will never undergo the fascist government, although Fiat shut tomorrow - all of his workshops, I believe that an attitude of perfect indifference to the conduct and affairs of Fiat is to be followed. The unemployment problem will be addressed by the regime with its own resources at the appropriate time. Fiat face his game. The scheme will make his. This sort of obsession - to fund blackmail - on what does or does not, or will not make the private company Fiat has to stop. Breathe
his conduct and that of other organs of the scheme to these
my instructions. " Signed
Benito Mussolini
On July 16, 1937 telegram sent to the Prefect of Turin:
" Tell Senator Agnelli and new Fiat plants should be comfortable and decent canteens for the workers. Tell him that the worker who eats in a hurry by the car is not of this time fascist. Add that man is a machine used to another machine . Benito Mussolini signed

superfluous comment.
